A small group of teenage girls in 1692 Salem, Massachusetts caught in an innocent conjuring love for potions to catch young men are forced to participate in the rites and are then forced to name those involved. Thrown into a mix are greedy preachers and other major landowners trying to steal others' land and one young woman infatuated with a married man and determined to get rid of his innocent wife. Those who admitted their guilt were immediately freed as a parable of the Congressional Communist witch hunt led.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, the tweens spell their way through a series of [potentially made-up] words hoping to never hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a winner. At least the losers get a juice box
